SSB Sponsors 3rd Annual Greater Pittsburgh Community Media Awards
Since 1986, Pittsburgh Community Television (PCTV) has been offering a unique service to local individuals and non-profits- the opportunity to use television and media to better the community. From their studios on Pittsburgh's Northside, they teach people to use the media to constructively engage and enlighten Pittsburgh area residents. As a fellow, longstanding Northside organization, we enjoy attending and supporting their many community-focused initiatives and projects, including their annual awards ceremony starting in 2017.
On October 15th, PCTV held the third annual Greater Pittsburgh Community Media Awards to honor and celebrate achievements in community television and media in Western Pennsylvania. Most specifically, community media producers at PCTV, Moon Community Access (MCA), and Bethel Park Public Access (BPTV) were the focus of the evening.
The event took place at Alloy 26 in Nova Place, providing a unique and inviting environment for nominees and their guests to mix and mingle before the ceremony. It was wonderful to see Pittsburgh's own Mayor Bill Peduto in attendance as well this year, showing his support of the great work the nominees are doing in their communities.
SSB Bank was proud to be the main sponsor again this year. Our staff also enjoyed accompanying our president and CEO, Dan Moon, who presented the Series Excellence Award. Paul Green, a repeat winner in this category again this year, was met with a push-up challenge by Dan. We never pass an opportunity to show off our strengths (literally and figuratively). There is never a dull moment when SSB is involved, that's for sure!
There were over 20 nominees (10 winners) across the nine categories, with two new additional awards presented this year. The winners of each category are listed below:
