Taking an Interest in Community Organizations

8/6/2018

Pittsburgh is brimming with amazing organizations. These community groups have a variety of focuses, including arts and culture, youth advocacy, health and wellness, social justice, animal rights, and more.

SSB Bank recognizes the importance of these groups in making Pittsburgh a better place for all of our neighbors and communities. We provide sponsorship or support to organizations who share SSB Bank's values and commitment to improving our communities.

Here are some of the great organizations we've partnered with over the years.

Allegheny YMCA Spinathon

This event encourages people to engage in physical activity while also raising money for people in need. Teams compete to bike the most miles on a stationary bike. An entry fee from riders supports YMCA's community-supporting programs.

Brighton Heights Citizens Federation

BHCF works with many individuals, committees, city programs, corporate and business sponsors, and foundations. Funds are used to maintain Brighton Heights' public flower garden, clean up vacant city lots and turn them into Green Spaces, purchase abandoned and sheriff sale houses with help and loans from the North Side Leadership Convention and the URA, and host community events.

Deutschtown Music Festival

This award-winning, free, two-day festival has become one the most significant local music events of the year. This non-profit, all-volunteer event has remained steadfast in its goal of 1) fostering economic and community development in the central NorthSide and 2) also supporting and promoting Pittsburgh’s vibrant live music scene.

Franklin Park Borough

SSB Bank supports a fun community day at Franklin Park's Blueberry Hill Park. Festival in the Park is a free event featuring activities and entertainment for people of all ages, including music, food, kids' events, and fireworks in the evening.

We look forward to telling you about additional organizations we have supported in the coming months, including:

Northside Leadership Foundation
