Pittsburgh Charities We Love to Support

September 5 is National Charity Day. Below, we are highlighting some of the fantastic Pittsburgh-based charities and organizations SSB Bank has worked with over the years.

Participating in our community is an honor and privilege, but it's also our responsibility. As a local community bank, we believe in our communities and in the power of giving back. As individuals, we want to live in neighborhoods that flourish, and we want to work alongside neighbors who support each other.

Jack and Jill Ball

The Pittsburgh Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. serves the Greater Pittsburgh area through community service and fundraising. They are focused on supporting the National Theme: "The Power to Make a Difference."

SSB Bank has supported the Pittsburgh Chapter's Jack and Jill Ball. The Presentation Ball was established in 1982 to celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of junior and senior high school students in the Pittsburgh Chapter. The ball highlights the academic, civic service and athletic achievements of the chapter’s teens after a yearlong process of workshops and community service activities.

Bethany House

"Bethany House Academy, Inc. (BHA) is a well established and innovative 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to reducing the negative impacts of poverty and inadequate education within the impoverished community of Northview Heights in North Pittsburgh."

Northside Leadership Conference

"The Northside is composed of a diverse group of 14 identifiable neighborhoods, each with its own history, ambiance, issues and volunteer organizations. Yet despite their differences, these 14 neighborhoods, joined by other key Northside stakeholders, have worked together since 1980 to operate the City's only multi-neighborhood Community Development Corporation providing a comprehensive range of services."

Northside/Northshore Chamber of Commerce

"Founded in 1897, the Northside North Shore Chamber of Commerce (NSCC) began helping merchants at the turn of the century in the North Side Market District. The NSCC is a service organization that creates, develops, and fosters a supportive climate that serves the interests of its members."
